COVID RESOURCES

We are taking proactive steps to help the youth and families who rely on us navigate these difficult times.

With the suspension of schools and workplaces due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the children and families served by the Boys & Girls of Harlem are facing challenges unlike anything previously encountered.  We are taking proactive steps to help the youth and families who rely on us navigate these difficult times.

We’re Responding:  BGCHarlem is addressing the immediate needs of over 800 youth, and their families, we serve in schools to limit disruptions in learning and enable access to basic needs. We are:

  • Providing virtual academic enrichment programming and academic resource guidance for parents to engage our children while they are out of school;

  • As soon as permitted, BGCHarlem will provide safe in-person school-aged childcare programming at our PS 186 location to those in need, including children of our City’s emergency and health care workers;

  • Supporting our families suffering hardships by providing critical information and service referrals to meet their needs.

We’re Looking Ahead to Recovery:  BGCHarlem will help our kids build resilience as they adjust to a New Normal. We will help them to continue to achieve academic success and practice good health and wellness, by:

  • Conducting trauma-informed service-delivery in our in-school and out-of-school-time programs to diminish the negative social/emotional impact of COVID-19;

  • Expanding our programs that promote good health and wellness habits among our youth;

  • Offering continued information and resources that promote family stability for those we serve.
